Course Title:  Geometry

Course Description

This 1 year course is intended to meet the state and district objectives for high school geometry.  It is designed to accommodate continuing as well as new students to the geometry course by allowing students to advance through the textbook without repeating previous work.  The course is designed to focus on the key topics of geometry including reasoning and proofs, perpendicular and parallel lines, triangles, quadrilaterals, proportions, right triangles and trigonometry, circles, surface areas, and volume. This course will provide a balance between essential skills, concepts, and problem solving in all state mandated objective areas.

 

Performance Objectives

The student will be able to work independently and at times in groups in the classroom setting. The student must demonstrate through class work and tests a basic understanding of geometry concepts

Standards for Grading

Credit is based on approximately 12 hours of productive work to equal 1 credit which is equivalent to one chapter per credit. The following percentages are utilized. A= 100-90% B=89-80%  C=79-70%  D=69-60% F=59% or lower.

 

Homework Policy

Class time will be provided for all class assignments. For each hour of productive class time a student may earn accelerated credit by working at home an additional hour to complete the course ahead of schedule.
